The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with the British Council conducted a 4-day training of master trainers from April 28th to May 2nd, 2024, on Stimulating Teacher Resourcefulness in Digital Education (STRIDE) and Supporting Pedagogical Rigor in Networked Teaching (SPRINT). The training aimed to equip teachers with digital literacy skills, enhance online teaching capabilities, and promote effective use of technology in classrooms.
Objectives:
– Build capacity of teachers to improve classroom delivery through technology integration
– Equip educators with skills to effectively integrate digital technologies into teaching and learning
– Enhance online teaching capabilities of Math, Science, and English teachers
– Develop a pool of master trainers equipped with STRIDE, SPRINT, and blended teaching techniques
Key Features:
– STRIDE program focuses on developing teachers’ digital literacy, knowledge, and attitudes
– SPRINT online course uses platforms like WhatsApp to deliver engaging lessons
– Training covered basic computer skills, internet navigation, digital tools, and effective use of online teaching tools

The training is expected to mass-produce digitally literate teachers who can integrate smart education in schools. The master trainers will be equipped to train teachers across the 36 states and FCT, especially those in technology-enabled schools.
