On Friday15th November,2024. the BESS Festival’s first-ever National Finals came to an end in Abuja. The Technical Assistant to the Honorable Minister of State for FCT, Planner Bawa Michael, represented the Honorable Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the Vice Chairman of the House of Representative Committee on Basic Education and Services, Hon. Mukthar Shagaya, the Dean of SUBEB, Chairmen, Prof. Shehu Adaramaja, and other SUBEB Chairmen, Dr. Hikaru Kusakabe, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA ) and the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi and other dignitaries attended the closing ceremony at the Old Parade ground, Abuja. Team Ondo finished first in the overall medal standings at the completion of the sporting event, surpassing both Akwa Ibom State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the hosts of the games. A total of 25 states sent athletes to Abuja as zonal champions.
