NERDC and UBEC Form Strategic Partnership to Roll Out New Curriculum for Nigerian Schools in 2025

The Management team of the Nigeria Education Research and Development Council (NERDC), led by its Executive Secretary, Prof. Salisu Shehu paid a working visit to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), where they met with the Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba, and the UBEC Management teams, consisting Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) and Directors.

During the meeting, the NERDC Executive Secretary reaffirmed the purpose of the engagement, emphasizing the need to review existing partnership agreements and strengthen collaboration between both institutions.

Furthermore, the NERDC Executive Secretary briefed the UBEC Management Team on upcoming initiatives, including the planned introduction of a revised curriculum and vocational and entrepreneurship studies for junior secondary schools in September 2025. He also outlined efforts to train states on the new curriculum and establish a functional instructional material development laboratory. UBEC ES pledge her support to see the role out of the new curriculum and to align instruction materials with the curriculum.

Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to work together to strengthen basic education policies, curriculum development, and overall education quality in Nigeria.
