Empowering Nigerian Teachers: Transforming Education through Innovation

The recently concluded 4-day intensive capacity building workshop on Design Thinking, Coding, and Artificial Intelligence for UBE Model Smart School Teachers held 3rd to 6th April, 2024 at the UBEC Digital Resource Centre was an extraordinary success! Hosted by the Commission, it marked a pivotal moment in the journey towards revolutionising education in Nigeria.

Under the visionary leadership of our Executive Secretary, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, and the eminent guidance of the ilustrious Professor of SOftware Engineering, Prof. Bashir Galadanci, National Cordinator, UBEC Digital Resource Centre, teachers embarked on a transformative journey, from novice to innovator. Witnessing their transition from zero coding knowledge to becoming architects of programmable robots and drones was nothing short of phenomenal.

One of the highlights of the workshop was the special presence of Mr. Sim Shagaya, the esteemed Founder of Ulesson, whose insights enriched our interactive sessions at the workshop. Together, we delved into the realm of innovation, exploring cutting-edge technologies that hold the key to unlocking a brighter future for Nigerian children. From programming and flying drones to building smart dustbins using Arduino, creating obstacle-avoiding cars, and coding oscillating fans with Ukit, the workshop showcased the endless possibilities when passion meets technology. Participants dived deep into machine learning models and Arduino, crafting solutions that transcend boundaries.

At UBEC, we believe in nurturing a community of dedicated and selfless educators who continually strive for professional development. Together, we’re shaping the future of education, one innovative workshop at a time.
