Mr. Rasaq Olajuwon AKINYEMI

Mr. Rasaq Olajuwon AKINYEMI is a seasoned public servant of over 20+ years of experience in various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Lagos State civil service. Born in Badagry Local Government, Lagos State, he had his early education at L.A. Primary School, Ajido, and later attended Iworo Ajido Model College, Badagry

Education
– Bachelor’s Degree: He earned a degree in Business Administration from Ogun State University.
– Master’s Degree: He furthered his education at the University of Lagos, showcasing his commitment to academic excellence.

Career
He rose through the ranks to become a Director in the Lagos State Government, serving in various capacities. His expertise and dedication led to his appointment as Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) at the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in March 2025. Some of his notable roles include:

– Director, Investment & Strategy: He served at the Public Private Partnership office, where he elucidated project strategies and examined their relations with the THEMES+Agenda of the Government.
– Secretary, Special Technical Committee: He served as the Secretary of the committee to determine the immediate and remote causes of the collapse of 4- storey building at Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.

– Assistant Director, Head-Construction, Demolition and Disaster Waste Management – LAWMA: He oversaw construction, demolition, and disaster waste management initiatives, first at the sub- national Government.
– Assistant General Manager, Western and Eastern (Senatorial Districts) Operations – LAWMA: He oversaw waste management operations in both western and eastern senatorial districts..
– Deputy Executive Secretary, Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy: He oversaw fellow selection, recruitment and operations, coordinated ministerial placements and capstone projects, also facilitated Brown Bag and Fireside Chat Sessions with captains of industries and top government officials.

Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical)

INTRODUCTION

The Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) is established by the UBE Act, 2004 as one of the two Deputy Executive Secretaries to assist the Executive Secretary in the running of Universal Basic Education Commission.

FUNCTIONS

1. Coordinates the Technical Departments of the Commission, namely:

     Department of Planning, Research and Statistics

     Department of Quality Assurance

     Department of Academic Services

     Department of Physical Planning

2. Any other assignment as may be assigned by the Executive Secretary.

Dame (Mrs.) Comfort Iheme – Rep. South East


She hails from Bende LGA of Abia State. She holds a B.Sc, 1987 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Dr. Danjuma Adamu Dabo – Rep. North East

Dr. Danjuma hails from Bauchi State. He obtained M.Sc Public Administration and Policy Analysis from the University of Abuja, MBA form Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Ph.D Economics from the Loughborough University, UK.
